Cleanse, Tone & Moisturise – Morning & Night!

Cleansing

Cleansing is so important and is one skincare routine that shouldn’t be skimped. You should pick a cleanser that is right for your skin.

I find that for me I have dry skin. I find Lancome or Dermalogica products fantastic. I always use a creamy cleanser such as Lancome Galatee Confort I massage it in to my skin for about 3 minutes

If I have been out and have a little extra make up on I would always do a double cleanse and then use wet cotton wool to take it off or else a warm – hot wet washcloth.

  • Your hands should always be spotless before you start ; always wash them before cleansing.
  • Tie your hair back to ensure you thoroughly clean every cm of your face, use a head band or a shower cap
  • Squirt about 3 squirts of cleanser into your spotless hands and gently rub together once and apply to your neck using your finger tips.
  • Use the pads of your fingers to massage the cleanser in to your neck using a deep pressure but remember that the skin under your chin is as delicate as the skin under your eyes.
  • Massage in the cleanser well into your face again remember to be gentle around the eye area. Giving yourself a good massage on your face will increase the blood flow to your face. This will give you a nice fresh complexion as it brings nutrients to the surface. This technique works wonders for tired faces.

If you allow the cleanser to interact with the dirt and make up for a minute or two it will all come off more efficiently.

Use your wet cotton wool or a face cloth to remove every bit of dirt and make up.

Toning

Toning is so important. If you don’t tone you will not remove the excess cleanser left on your skin therefore when you apply moisturiser it wont work because there is a barrier of cleanser on your skin.

Toners also provide the skin with essential age fighting nutrients including antioxidants, minerals and vitamins.

They give the skin a final cleansing and they tighten your pores and most important toners protect the skin from environmental pollutants.

I like to use the same cleanser, toner and moisturiser so I use Lancomes Tonique confort which has a silky soft moisturising formula that gently tones and immediately re-hydrates the complexion.

Its instantly soothing, with honey and almond seed extract for perfectly clean, soft and comforted skin.

Moisturiser

The third and last step of a good daily skincare regime is to moisturise. The moisturiser you use should be solely for facial skin. Hand and body lotions are not suitable for use on your face.

Facial moisturisers will hydrate your skin while keeping it moist and nourished throughout the day or night. Moisturisers protect your skin from the environment and are a critical part of your daily routine.

Elements like the cold, the wind, the sun and harsh cleansers can wreck havoc on our skin.

Thankfully a good moisturiser can replenish lost moisture while keeping our skin on a smooth and healthy track. Regardless of your skin type it is critical to moisturise our skin on a daily basis.
